New home, historic neighborhood

This custom build in King William was designed to be the mothership for a big and busy family. The context sensitive infill design by Nick Melde, AIA is a modern nod to the late 19th and early 20th century Queen Anne style homes that populate the historic King William neighborhood. The end result, combined with the owner’s color and surfacing choices yielded a home that is at home with its neighbors while also a standout expression of where new design should be in this important neighborhood. The cast stone details, custom brick smear and satin black siding color set the bar high for the project’s exterior finish quality. The home’s layout supports the family’s high energy lifestyle with living spaces that open up to the exterior entertainment space and pool via an 18’ wide folding panoramic door system.
